Ceremonial grade is not an official regulated Japanese classification. At matchita, it describes matcha selected for drinking quality, with vibrant colour, fine texture, smooth taste and natural umami.
Matcha is made from green tea leaves from Camellia sinensis. The leaves are processed and finely ground into a powder that is whisked directly into the drink.

No. The simplest way is to use a milk frother. It mixes the matcha quickly, creates a wonderful foam and gives a smooth, enjoyable drinking experience. A bamboo whisk is the more traditional method and creates a finer, more delicate foam.
Yes. Matcha works hot, iced or cold. Whisk or shake it with water first, then serve over ice or build it into your preferred ritual.
Yes. Prepare the matcha with a small amount of water first, then add your preferred milk or plant-based alternative.
Matcha is finely ground tea leaf rather than a soluble extract. Small particles can naturally settle over time, so simply stir, whisk or shake again.
STORAGE & FRESHNESS
Keep matcha airtight and protected from light, heat and moisture. Always reseal the packaging carefully after use. For best freshness, we recommend storing it cool, and refrigeration can help preserve colour, aroma and taste for longer. Unopened, tightly sealed matcha can also be stored in the freezer. After cold storage, allow the pack to return to room temperature before opening to help prevent condensation.
Refrigeration can help preserve freshness during longer storage. If refrigerated, keep the matcha tightly sealed and avoid condensation when opening it.
Yes. Opened matcha can be stored at room temperature when kept airtight, cool, dry and away from direct light.
Exposure to air, light, heat and moisture can gradually affect matcha’s colour, aroma and taste. Fresh storage helps preserve its vibrant character.
